Bruce works with the many local authorities including being an independent member of Audit and Risk Committees for Auckland City Council, Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Environment Southland, Far North District Council, Southland District Council, Thames-Coromandel District Council and Waipa District Council.
Much of his consultancy work intersects the key local government disciplines of financial, asset and strategic management. In his prior role as Assistant Auditor-General he oversaw the audit of the last for LTP rounds and reported extensively at sector level on the quality of forecasting and planning.
Recent review work of local authorities has included a “health check” of the local authorities affected by the Kaikoura earthquake which focused on their capability and capacity after the earthquake and the aspects of Hastings District Council’s three waters operations in the post-Havelock North environment. He also recently completed a joint engagement on asset metadata standards which provide the potential to advance those three disciplines - financial, asset and strategic management.
Bruce is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts.
